My Dailities
Dailities. Daily toiletries.
Yes. I just made that word up. :)
So, I have been checking out tons of beauty-related YouTube videos for quite some time now and it gave me incredible amount of ideas, tips and general what-you-can-do-on-the-internet-if-you're-really-super-bored (the Narcissistic edition). To pay homage to these things, I figured to make a little misssavealittle blog segment, for lack of better word (because my vocabulary isn't that great), featuring the prevalent tags and video topics out there.
Actually, when you think about it, I have already started this with my facial mask and brush cleaning entries. Well, whatever - I'll just tag those or something. :D
In this post, I thought of going over my daily beauty routine (bath and skin care) Oh, but this would not include my weekly rituals and all that jazz - I'll put those in another post.
Ok, so, jumping in to my dailities... /In the bath
Body Wash / Shower Gel
Like everybody else, I grew up in a household using regular soaps when taking a bath. Until I became a girl. Think girly-girl... From what I can remember, my family went from Check, to Lifebuoy, to Palmolive Naturals, to Camay, to Dial, to Irish Spring, to Johnson & Johnson's, to Belo and now, Safeguard. But, like I said, your dear author evolved! I know, who woulda know, right?
So, I first tried using body washes when I stayed at a friends place and was given to try Victoria's Secret Vanilla Lace body wash. Well, let me tell you. Number one, I fell in love with the scent. I sooo love vanilla!!! So, right on, I went on eBay and purchased my first body wash and that's when this phase in my life really got started. Ok, now number two reason why I'm super into it right now? You see, body washes or shower gels - whatever - these things make me feel girly. Yup! The smell, the bubbles and the after shower softness. Just so good, man! just so good... :)
From VS, I tried other stuff too. For sometime, I used Ivory, Radox, Kenneth Cole, Bath and Body Works, Johnson's Baby Wash and now, I went super cheapskate and Chinese by using Follow Me Nature's Path. Hehe. I got this huge bottle in Singapore for like $6.
Need I say, I'm not totally happy with this. It's nothing special whatsoever. Though it does gives me bubbles and softness but not so much with the scent. I don't know what went wrong because when I first got it, I was fine with the smell. Its not vanilla by any means but it was tolerable compared to the other shower gels available in that little Ang Mo grocery store in Bishan. So yeah, that's why I got it - not to mention it's dirt cheap. But, anyway, whatever. It's here, so, I'll just finish the whole bottle up and buy something else next time.
Hmm, actually, I'm thinking of going back to Ivory. It's still not vanilla, I know, but it smells clean. Well, it smells like Ivory! :D
Mesh Loofah
I use plastic mesh loofah to scrub and spread goodness on my skin courtesy of my shower gel. I have tried using natural sponges, i.e. the dried patola variety - both the store bought and those found and dried right in my backyard. And honestly, I like the unnatural, inorganic, plastic, not good for the environment kind. Ahahahahaha! Bad, I know, but really - I like mesh loofahs because for some reason it feels like they're more hygienic. I mean, versus the dried patola, these plastic scrubbers are easy to use, dry fast, aren't as hard/sharp on the skin (especially when they haven't soaked up enough water to make them more workable) and don't grow molds as fast or at least doesn't seem to.
I tried using wash cloths too before but I find those still not as good as my plastics - scrubbing power-wise. Mainly because when it's soaked - it just turns soft. Also, it's hard to store in our bath. It falls/slides off easily on our bathroom rod. So, yeah. Plastic mesh loofahs all the way! :D
Shampoos
Right now, I'm in between and shuffling Pantene and Palmolive - depending on a.) my mood, or b.) whichever is easier to grab. Again, like everybody else, I have tried almost everything on the market and still looking for the one... or two that will make my hair happy - and it is still out there.
Now, going back to my current shampoos, these two are nothing to be too excited about. Just normal shampoos to me. Oh, the Palmolive Hair Fall Resist makes my hair soft even without conditioner but it doesn't really help with my hair fall. Bleh.
When I finish at least one of these, I'm thinking of going back to either Citre Shine because I like the squeaky hair feeling or Suave Coconut because it just smells yummy. :)
Conditioner
My current conditioner is the purple Sunsilk Creations. Again, another so-so product. I'll make a review soon - I guess. But, so far, using this hasn't given me any epic result. In fact, I'm already thinking of what new conditioner I'm going to buy once I finish this bottle up. In case you're wondering - I'm thinking of going back to good ol' Cream Silk. Yes, I'm Filipina!. Yay! :D
Comb
Yeah that's right. I comb my hair when I shower. It helps me untangle my hair and distribute the shampoo and conditioner from roots to tips. Oh also, the silky soft feel of my hair under the hot water is just lovelovelove. :)
Feminine Wash
Yes, I'ma girl. I need this most especially during my most trying times of the month. To be honest, I don't use this on my regular non-menstrual days because I'm lazy like that. Hahaha. I mean, really. :D
But, yeah, I'm using PH Care in blue and I had this for almost 4 months now at least. As you can see, I may still have some to last me until June 2011.
Facial Washes and Scrubs
Plural.
I am currently using Human Nature and the blue Biore facial washes; and the pink Biore for my facial scrub. I use the scrub first then pick either one of the two washes to finish my face off. Normally, though, I grab the Human Nature stuff when I have a breakout. I have oily skin; so, that's what I blame when pimples start shooting out.. Well, unless its before, during or after my menstrual thingy. Then now we know who dun-nit.
Tongue Scrapper, Toothbrush and Toothpaste
I do brush and floss my teeth; I also scrape my tongue. I use just your generic toothbrush either Colgate or Oral-B, whichever kind my mom and dad buy, Colgate toothpaste and a Watson's tongue scrapper.
Oh, I forgot to include my floss. If you're wondering - I use some generic floss string thingy (also from Watson's).
PS. I don't really have the need to buy "branded" flosses because for me - they're just strings - hell, I could use sewing needles if I want to! :p
Moving on to my dailities... /After the bath
Petroleum Jelly and Lip Conditioner
I use this all the time because I like the way it just softens and removes dead skin on my lips. It's cheap and it does the work real good - what else can I ask for? I am using the Apollo brand just because it is readily available to me. But, I'm thinking of using Vaseline, just to try something else that is more expensive. Hahaha.
I also use Carmex on my lips because I like the way it smells. However, I still think petroleum jelly is still the best - so I still use it under my Carmex. That's whatcha call compromise - right? :)
Eye Cream and Eye Makeup Remover
I use two different kinds of eye cream; my morning/before work is Avon Solutions Plus and my night/before bedtime is Ponds Age Miracle. I read somewhere before that we need to take care of the skin around our eyes because those are the most delicate. So, I thought, damn, I gotta take care of it! I don't want my dark circle to be like the black whole and it wouldn't hurt to try - right?
For my eye makeup remover, I use an eye cream of some kind for that too. I use Giga eye cream made with virgin coconut oil. Why, you ask? Well, number one, because I can; and number two, because (again) it does the work! :) Oh, and I use a q-tip when removing my eye makeup (applying my Giga cream); then finish it off with a cotton ball.
Acne Solution
I do have breakouts from time to time, so it's only natural to have a back-up plan when the world is against my face... And I have two. I use Differin for the pawns and Diproline for the queen.
Moisturizers
Again, I use two different moisturizers; my morning/before work is Garnier Pure A (it's the blue one) and my night/before bedtime is St Ives Collagen Elastin Facial Moisturizer. Garnier is perfect for me to use under my makeup; while, St Ives does great in hydrating my face in my sleep. Oh, this reminds me.. I need to pick up a new Garnier - I'm almost out!!
Body Lotion
I'm out of the lotions that I really care to use, i.e. Bath and Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar; and these are the only ones left (aside for a half a dozen almost empty bottles of lotions here and there. I'm no physicist but I think I need to remember to buy lotion - soon! :)
Remember: keep your cool! :)
