Today is the last night of my long Halloween weekend and I want more day offs!!!
Having that out of the way, let me proceed by sharing you my brush cleaning system. :)
I haven't been very good with my brushes. Like, I've been a very bad and unhygienic and plain lazy girl. In fact, I think the last time I cleaned my brushes was a few months before I left the country - so, we are looking at 3-4 months worth of makeup grime up in here. Yikes! Hahaha. But, I'm trying to be good now and just finished cleaning them all up.
So, here's to cleaning brushes!
The basics:
1 small packet of feminine wash - roughly 5ml
some hair conditioner - just a small glob
water
dry towel
Directions:
1. Pour some feminine wash into a small container.
I used the Carefree Daily Feminine Wash Products with Tea Tree sampler that came with a Cosmo magazine purchased a few months back and the bottle cap of my old Himalayas Foaming Facial Wash as its just the right size for this purpose.
2. Swirl the brush into the product to remove as much grime as you can.
But, please... please go easy. We don't need brute force in this exercise.
3. Dip and cleanse the brush in tap water.
4. Mix a dollop of conditioner to the water and swirl the brush to create foam.
Again, swirl it gently - let's not overact in here.
I used the leftover hair conditioner that came with my mom's hair dye.
5. Rinse brush with tap water.
You can do this under running water or in your cap.
6. Squeeze water off your brush, re-fluff and let dry by laying them flat on a towel.
Find a warm and dry place to let your brushes air-dry in peace.
Hmkay, so...
Number one - Me thinks its a good clean. But, I will still definitely try cleaning with olive oil; if it will give me more favorable results.
PS. I just made this up as I went along and I don't have olive oil at the moment - so, I used what I have because, well, yeah, my brushes are really like dirty - color powder, cream and dust filled babies. Yeah, disgusting and they need some good washing - terrible.
Number two - I really need to clean my brushes weekly. Laziness begone!!
Number three - I want a Sigma brush kit for Christmas.
My verdict:
This made me happy because I won't be spreading germs on my face every time I put on makeup. :D Well, at least for now.
5/5
